What If Everything You Learned About Tithing Was Wrong? Chat with Pastor Eryk Hood on Rejoice102.com
Feel free to leave us a review 🙂
Ready to question everything you thought you knew about church finances? Pastor Eryk Hood joins us for a mind-bending conversation about one of the most sensitive topics in modern Christianity: tithing. As both a pastor and biblical scholar, Pastor Hood doesn't hold back, claiming that "tithing will keep you broke" and backing it up with scripture that most Sunday sermons conveniently skip.
With sharp precision, Eryk Hood dissects commonly misused verses like Malachi 3:10, demonstrating how these passages have been lifted out of their historical and theological context. He takes us directly to Leviticus 27:30-34, revealing that tithing was specifically commanded to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai—not to modern believers. Most shockingly, he presents compelling evidence from Galatians 3 showing that following tithing as law may actually place believers "under the curse" rather than blessing them financially.
What makes this episode particularly powerful is that these challenges come from someone with pastoral credentials who has spent 15 years studying these texts. Pastor Eryk Hood isn't speaking from hurt or emotion but from what he describes as "biblical truths." Whether you ultimately agree with his interpretation or not, this conversation will equip you with knowledge to make more informed decisions about your finances and faith. Check Pastor Eryk Hood’s expanded edition of "Tithing Will Keep You Broke" with 100 additional pages of evidence, and connect with him on YouTube under Full Impact Ministries or at SavedAndEducated.org to pre-order the book and continue exploring these challenging biblical concepts.
Hey, this is Published in Black Radio. Today I have an amazing author with me and we are going to talk about his book. It's a different type of topic, so you all know I come on and talk about publishing and self-publishing and how to like really come in and not just publish a book but make money from your book. So today we are interviewing Eric Authorhood. He's also my special person, my husband. However, he has been an author for how long?
Speaker 2:No longer than that.
Speaker 1:I think I've been about about 15 years, so we are going to chat about his um book that was originally published in 2018. The name of the book is um, tithing will keep you broke. Tithing will keep you broke, ain't that something? So, uh, we're're gonna chat with him today. We're gonna chat with him today about um, this controversial topic that, um, yeah, nobody really likes to um talk about, but we're gonna talk about it today, so tylen will keep you broke. Author erica, I'm glad to have you here. Tell us exactly how it feels to come in and just like, go against something that uh, people take very personal. You know they, they, they get in the white about it and, yeah, so tithing is one of those topics. Tell us how it feels to go against what has been taught for so long, so traditionally done. It's so many stories on both sides about this topic, so tell me what it feels like to be the person to go against the grain and have scripture to back it up.
Speaker 2:Feels great. It feels great, great, it feels great, feels great to know that, know that I'm um, that I'm biblically astute to bring, to bring the truth about topics that that most, that most people are very afraid of, but it's only because they don't have, don't have the biblical afraid of, but it's only because they don't have, don't have the biblical insight.
Speaker 1:so that's why I come into play. So it feels great, okay, so let's hop right in. So people have been attending, you know, some people have been at their churches their entire life or raised in church all of that. And so we've heard, we've heard it all and I I know that the common just from my own experience, the common scripture that's used is Malachi what is it? Three and ten, yeah, malachi, three and ten. Who shall rob God? And all of this.
Speaker 1:And so, to come against that, can you explain to us why that scripture is so commonly used? That? Can you explain to us why that scripture is so commonly used? And as I was told once, I was taught that that didn't mean any of what they were talking about, because they just say that, and I know the churches that I attended were always like oh well, if you don't tithe, you are, you'll be cursed with a curse, but Galatians 3 and 10 says some opposite. But Galatians 3 and 10 says something opposite. So that whole thing about still teaching the law when the law was done away with just chime in for me. Tell me what we at with this.
Speaker 2:We have full-blown deception. So we have full-blown deception with the pastors and we have full-blown biblical ignorance with the members. Any pastor who is a student of the scriptures of the word of God there's no way up under the sun can come up with the truth that tithing is for us. Tithing never has been for us, never will. We don't even qualify to tithe. Wow, wow. There's much scripture to bag up what I'm speaking. Not speaking on emotions or hurt or anything. I'm speaking from biblical truths that tithing never was for us, we are not even qualified for tithing, we don't have the resources for tithing, and that you are being truthfully deceived.
Speaker 1:Wow, now you got this and speaking from a pastor who has studied the Bible unlike your average believer studies the Bible. Unlike your average believer studies the Bible. So give us some key scriptures that people can go and study and look this up for themselves.
Speaker 1:You know, back it up, because typically I know what happens, just to throw this in there. Typically what happens is to go and ask someone to go and ask their pastor or their leader who's been teaching them this stuff, and they're going to say, oh no, that's not true. Oh, this, this and that. But look, listen, listen, listen. We in 2025, we in a time to where you need to study for yourself, so that's where you come in there.
Speaker 2:So drop some scriptures for us well, there's no sense in going to your pastor because because he's he is willfully deceiving you. So there's no sense in going to the person that's willfully deceiving you now. Now we're gonna go to go to galatians, to where they say that tithing, tithing, that they take faith to tithe. Well, tithing has everything to do with the law that was given to the children of Israel over in the book of Leviticus, chapter 27. Number over in the book of Leviticus, chapter 27. And it speaks about the tithing system and that it was given to Moses to give to the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. We're given to five minutes, okay, so let me give you the one, because we only got. We're going to go here and we're going to speak on who has the right to tithe. Over in the book of Leviticus, chapter 27, verse 30, the scripture says and all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or the fruit of the tree of the Lord, it is holy unto the Lord. And if a man will at all Scripture says whatsoever pass upon the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it. And if he change it all, then both of them shall be changed. Therefore be holy and it shall not be redeemed. And he says over in verse 34, these are the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. It has nothing to do with you, you are not an Israelite, he wasn't talking to you. Then we talk about the tithe On. It says if you don't tithe that you'll be cursed with a curse. You'll be cursed with a curse, the scripture says. The scripture says over here in the book of Galatians, chapter 3. The scripture says for as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse, tithing is the law. The scripture says for as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse. For it is written curses everyone that continue and not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. So you can connect this here to James 2, verse 10, where it says If you fail in one law you fail in all. It says, but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident for the just to live by faith and the law is not of faith. Some pastors told me that it takes faith to tithe. The law is not of faith, but the man that does them shall live in them. The law. Tithing has nothing to do with faith. Tithing has nothing to do with faith. Tithing has nothing to do with your money. There's so many scriptures that I have, but it's in the book. It's in the book.
Speaker 2:Tithing will keep you broke the untold truth to your financial freedom. I have a new book coming out that is pre-ordered Tithing will keep you broke the untold truth to your financial freedom. It has 100 extra pages, extra editing, extra confirmation, everything and the seal rabbit hole. If you go down the seal rabbit hole, you're going to have to be equipped with the word that I have in the book, because it's going to open up a plethora Of demonic things that is going to come in your face like deception, like greed, like manipulation, like control, member abuse, all of the above, and it's going to make you to have to make a critical decision, because once you know truth, you can't blame your pastor. It's all about you being self-deception now. So you're going to have to go in there and get down dirty and grimy with it that way. That way you can be open To receive the truth.
Speaker 1:Alright, y'all heard it. Y'all heard it. I didn't just come on here and just bring no anybody in here. He have talked to pastors and they will be like, well, wait a minute.
